Although there are many advantages to using SIP sessions, they are not without challenges:
- A standard office pbx and phone system will do the telephony element without changes to that current system, although it will not connect directly to SIP.
- Generally a fully integrated SIP system requires high bandwidth across the system and into an IP backbone.
- A business will require an efficient Local Area Network (LAN) to set up SIP clients on every desk.
- SIP system implementation requires significant changes to hardware, and it is important for the customer and provider to discuss the future requirments that they might have.
